It may be the dead of winter (albeit a relatively mild one), but for Tampa Bay rapper Dominique Young Unique, it’s blazing hot all year long. The new video for “She’s Unique” (directed by Johannes Schaff) sees the precocious Floridian bottling the essence of summer, as she spits her rapid-fire flow over David Alexander’s day-glo production.While Dominique says, “The song is mainly about you doing your own thing. When people try to get in the way when you’re trying to succeed in life, you don’t pay them no mind — you crush them like mash potatoes” (awesome imagery in itself), the video shows that doing your own thing can look pretty damn relaxing. Dominique also describes the song as having “a West Coast laid back vibe to it,” which makes sense considering the skaters, BMXing, and bikinis in the video.
